Lions win over Packers may cost bar

A bar in a Detroit suburb is going all-in on the Lions.

The Pour House in Madison Heights, Michigan, is offering to comp patrons their entire bill if the Detroit Lions beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

"There's a lot of excitement around here about the Lions making the playoffs, possibly getting that first-week bye and being two weeks away from the Super Bowl," said bar owner Rudy Jarbo. "I think this gives Lions fans an incentive to watch physically, mentally, emotionally and financially."

Jarbo said the only rules in order to get food and drinks on the house are that customers have to arrive before kickoff and stay the entire game.

While the small bar has a capacity of only 100 people, the fact that it's more of a high-end pub makes it easier for Lions fans to rack up the costs if Detroit gets out to a healthy lead.

A shot of Johnny Walker Blue at The Pour House is $30, and there are craft beers that cost as much as $23.

"We're not selling Bud Light and Coors," Jarbo said. "So the costs will add up if someone gets confident."

Jarbo said that if the Lions win, he'll be out about $3,000 in costs or about $10,000 in what he would have made at retail.

Despite the price, Jarbo said he's hoping the Lions pull it off.

"If the Lions win, this two-decade-long Lions fan will celebrate," he said. "Plus we'd be giving back to our customers."

History says that's a long shot.

The Packers, who are 7 point favorites in this game, have won their past 23 home games against the Lions, the longest home win streak against an opponent in NFL history. The Lions' last win at Lambeau Field came on Dec. 15, 1991.
