NaVorro Bowman, the San Francisco 49ers' three-time All-Pro inside linebacker, practiced Tuesday on Day 1 of the team's three-day voluntary minicamp for the first time since suffering a devastating left knee injury in the NFC title game in January 2014.
Bowman took to social media to announce his return, writing on Instagram:
The 49ers are in their first minicamp under new head coach Jim Tomsula, and a healthy Bowman would go a long way toward addressing a need in the wake of the surprising dual retirements of Patrick Willis and Chris Borland.
Bowman tore both the ACL and MCL in his knee against the Seattle Seahawks and sat out all of last season, despite early projections and hopes that he would return midseason.
