City officials may curb alcohol sales at Levi's Stadium to prevent violence
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- An attack after the 49ers season opener last Monday could result in big changes for fans at future games at Levi's Stadium.
Football is a violent game on the field but lately it seems that violence is spilling over into the fans.
Santa Clara city leaders are taking a closer look at alcohol sales in attempt to curb violence.
Cellphone video captured the latest high profile fight at Levi's Stadium between fans. Police arrested three men and a teenage girl related to the incident.
On Tuesday night, Santa Clara's city council will take a look at what can be done to prevent such violence in the future.
Among the options is ending alcohol sales after halftime and bringing in extra officers.
Santa Clara Police Chief Mike Sellers also believes peer pressure from other fans not tolerating this type of behavior may help control the violence.
"Really, the issue we're dealing with is a small portion of people attending the events. I mean we're really looking at about one-tenth of one percent of the people that are behaving poorly," said Sellers.

One city council member said they will look at better monitoring at the entrance gates to keep people who appear to be drunk out of the stadium and better monitoring of parking lots before and after games.
Council members say they are also looking into whether tailgating on the golf course across from the stadium is legal.
