Projected first-rounder Ivan Rabb staying at Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. -- California forward Ivan Rabb has decided to stay in school for his sophomore season rather than enter the NBA draft.

Cal coach Cuonzo Martin said Sunday night that Rabb decided to return for his sophomore season after thinking about it with his family. Rabb had been projected as a lottery pick by ESPN.com.

Rabb's decision is a big boost for the Golden Bears, who already lost talented freshman Jaylen Brown to the draft. Rabb averaged 12.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this season as he helped Cal make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013.

Rabb leads a talented returning core for the Bears that also includes guard Jabari Bird, outside shooter Jordan Mathews, backup point guardSam Singer and 7-footers Kingsley Okoroh and Kameron Rooks.
