Police respond to weekend burglary at San Francisco 49ers Ray McDonald's house

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- Police are looking into a burglary committed at San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald's house over the weekend. McDonald was in Arizona for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Authorities were called to the house on Bentley Ridge Drive just after 10:45 Saturday night. They say someone forced their way in and stole some personal items. Neighbors remember hearing dogs barking.

"I have heard break-ins happening in the neighborhood, which is not right," said one nearby resident.

Some are asking if burglars targeted McDonald's house because he was out of town. But Rick Nicholson, who works as a handyman in the area, says "I heard that a lot of homes have been burglarized up here in the last year and a half. My client has installed an alarm system just because of that fact."

Nicholson says he has seen a lot of work done to McDonald's house lately. He says there's always multiple cars parked outside and different people coming and going.

This is the third time that police have been called to this San Jose address in the past five months. Police responded to this same address last month and arrested McDonald on suspicion of domestic violence on his fiance. They were also here in May when a caller said a woman grabbed a gun during an argument. Police did not release names but said it involved an engaged couple who lived here.

One neighbor said marked 49ers' car, which may have been a security vehicle, was parked outside the house on Sunday.

No arrests have been made in the weekend burglary.
