SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid departed the team's locker room Sunday night with his right arm in a sling.

Reid is scheduled to have an MRI on that arm Monday, but sources indicated that the fear is the test will reveal a torn biceps. If indeed Reid has a torn biceps, it likely would mean he'd need season-ending surgery with six games to go.

Reid tied for the team lead with seven tackles in a 30-17 loss to the New England Patriots but injured his arm during a LeGarrette Blount carry on one of the game's final plays.

For the season, Reid has 62 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception. He also has joined quarterback Colin Kaepernick in kneeling during the national anthem before every game as a protest of racial inequality and oppression in the United States.

Second-year safety Jaquiski Tartt likely would be next up if Reid did suffer a season-ending injury.
