Interim LSU football coach Ed Orgeron was given the license to make whatever changes he deemed necessary on the Tigers' staff. It was understood that one of those changes would be not retaining offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, sources told ESPN.com.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported earlier Tuesday that it was Orgeron who made the call on Cameron and not LSU. Orgeron was named by LSU to replace Les Miles on an interim basis after Miles was fired by the school Sunday morning.

Orgeron moved Steve Ensminger from tight ends coach to offensive coordinator. Ensminger had previously served as offensive coordinator at Clemson, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State and Texas A&M.

Orgeron said the plan was to open up the offense a little more, run some spread and do some new things.

Cameron, a longtime friend of Miles, had been LSU's offensive coordinator since 2013.
