Sources: Raiders RB Latavius Murray doubtful due to foot injury
ALAMEDA, Calif. --Oakland Raiders running back Latavius Murray, who injured his right foot in Sunday's 28-27 victory at the Baltimore Ravens and was wearing a protective boot on Tuesday and Wednesday, is doubtful to play Sunday at home against the San Diego Chargers, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Murray did not practice Wednesday after carrying the ball eight times for 19 yards and catching two passes for five yards at Baltimore.
If Murray is indeed out for the Raiders (3-1) against the Chargers (1-3), the rookie tandem of DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will split the load. Both players are 5-foot-8, while Richard is three pounds heavier at 207 pounds.
Murray is the team's leading rusher, with 172 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries. Washington, who lost a fumble in Baltimore, has 147 rushing yards on 23 carries, and Richard has run for 144 yards on 17 attempts, including a 75-yard touchdown run on his first NFL carry at the New Orleans Saints in the season opener.
Fullback Jamize Olawale might also be an option, as he has 13 yards and a score on four carries.
The Raiders have placed blocking tight end Lee Smith (leg) and middle linebacker Ben Heeney (ankle) on the injured reserve list over the past two days. Meanwhile, tight end Clive Alford (knee), right tackle Menelik Watson (calf), linebacker Malcolm Smith (quad) and safety Nate Allen (quad) missed practice on Wednesday.
