STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford sophomore forward Reid Travis will miss the remainder of the season because of a leg injury sustained in December.

Coach Johnny Dawkins said Tuesday that Travis will apply for a medical redshirt to get his year of eligibility back. Travis started the first eight games of the season before he was sidelined by a stress reaction in his left leg. He has missed the past 17 contests and will not play in Stanford's final four regular-season games or the postseason.

Dawkins says the Cardinal (13-12, 6-8 Pac-12) have missed Travis' presence in the lineup but it is important that he fully heals before playing again so he does not re-injure his leg.

Travis averaged 12.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season.
