Steph Curry to auction off game-worn shoes in honor of Oakland fire victims

Thirty-six people died in the "Ghost Ship" warehouse fire in Oakland earlier this month, with the victims' ages ranging from 17 to 35 years old.

Last Thursday, Golden State WarriorsguardStephen Curry honored the deceased by wearing two pairs of Under Armour Curry 3s when facing the New York Knicks -- one during pregame warmups, and another during the actual game.

"Ghost Ship" and "Oakland Strong" are the two messages featured on the custom-designed sneakers. "Always Remember" also appears on the bottom of both pairs.

The two-time reigning NBA MVP will auction off the shoes over the next 10 days to raise money for the Oakland Fire Relief fund.

"We were all devastated by the news of this tragedy and the loss of so many young lives right here in our community," said Curry, via the Warriors' official website. "My goal in wearing these shoes was to not only honor the victims that lost their lives that night, but also to raise awareness for the relief efforts that are underway. Hopefully through this auction we can help further assist with those efforts."

Curry and the Warriors are reportedly donating $125,000 to the fund, while Under Armour will pitch in another $25,000.

Bidding for the size 12.5 sneakers is underway on eBay.
