Stephen Curry plans to honor Oakland fire victims with custom shoes during warmups

Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curryon Thursday wore two special pairs of custom shoe designs in memory of the victims of the Oakland warehouse fire that took the lives of 36 people earlier this month. The two pairs of shoes will be auctioned off to raise money for the victims' families.

Curry showed on Twitter the low-cut version of his Curry 3 shoe, which he wore during warm-ups before Thursday's 103-90 win over the New York Knicks.The word Ghostship was inscribed on the shoes to commemorate the name of the warehouse-turned-artist collective that was the site of the deadliest fire in Oakland history.

On Instagram, Curry shared the shoes he would wear for the game, which has "Oakland Strong" written on them. The words "Always Remember" are on the heel of the shoes.

Both pairs of the shoes have the initials of the names of the people who died. The graffiti style of the custom design are meant to pay tribute to the Oakland arts scene.

Curry's gesture comes a week afterWarriors players and coaches pledged $75,000 to help relief efforts for the deadly fire that happened only a few miles from their home arena.
