Stephen Jackson, who once was suspended for punching a fan and won one championship while playing for seven teams during his 14-year career, is retiring from the NBA.
The 37-year-old Jackson averaged 15.1 points per game while playing for the Nets, Spurs, Hawks, Warriors, Bobcats, Bucks and Clippers, with whom he last played during the 2013-14 season.
He won his lone championship ring with the Spurs in 2003.
Jackson was suspended for 30 games -- and charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and battery -- for his part in the "Malice in the Palace" brawl in the stands during a Pacers-Pistons game during the 2004 season.
Jackson, who had followed Ron Artest into the stands during the incident, had claimed that the fan had used racial slurs.In all, nine players were suspended for a total of 146 games, and five players and seven fans were charged with criminal offenses.
