Seattle Storm star Breanna Stewart has signed to play for Shanghai of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association, the Shanghai team told China media outlet Xinhua on Wednesday.
Stewart, who led UConn to four straight national titles and was the No. 1 pick in this year's WNBA draft, is averaging 15.2 points and leads the WNBA with 10.1 rebounds in her rookie season.
She follows Maya Moore and Brittney Griner as WNBA stars who have signed contracts in recent years with the WCBA, which plays in the winter during the WNBA's offseason.
Stewart, 21, also will represent the U.S. during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
