Tyler Raber makes rare hole-in-one

Tyler Raber thought he'd lost his ball. He finally found it in the last place he thought it would be: the hole.

Raber made a hole-in-one Thursday on the par-4 17th hole of the eGolf Pro Tour's ArrowCreek Open in Reno, Nevada, a feat that's been accomplished only once on the PGA Tour. The hole was playing 279 yards in the final round.

"We heard it hit the pin," Raber said, according to the Golf Channel. "We couldn't see it, but we looked at each other and said, 'That hit the pin.' We looked all around the green before finally looking in the hole, and there it was. It was the craziest thing ever.

"My first hole-in-one or double-eagle in a tournament, so I guess I killed two birds with one stone."

The only par-4 ace in PGA Tour history came courtesy of Andrew Magee in 2001 at the FBR Open.

Raber lost the ArrowCreek Open to Craig Barlow in a three-man playoff.

According to the eGolf Pro Tour's website, its tour is an avenue for players who are chasing the opportunity to someday play on the PGA Tour. It bills itself as "the country's de facto No. 3 tour. Our goal, simply put, is to provide the best developmental tour in order for you to play your way up to golf's highest levels, as countless eGolf Tour members have done before."
