NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Tyler Summitt won his debut as coach of Louisiana Tech when the Lady Techsters rallied to beat Stephen F. Austin 76-69 on Saturday night.

Trailing 62-56 with 5:20 left, the Lady Techsters closed with a 20-7 run to give the 24-year-old coach the victory. He's now only 1,097 behind his mom, Hall of Famer Pat Summitt.

Kelia Shelton scored 18 points for Louisiana Tech, which plays its first five games on the road, including a trip to LSU before the home opener on Dec. 7. JaQuan Jackson and Chrisstasia Walter each had 16.

After advancing to the WAC title game when Tech's senior class was freshmen, the team has suffered through the first two losing seasons in program history.

Porsha Roberts had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Stephen F. Austin.
