UC Davis hires Kevin Blue of Stanford as athletic director

DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis has hired Kevin Blue away from Stanford to be the school's athletic director.

Blue served as senior associate athletic director for external relations at Stanford under athletic director Bernard Muir. He is set to begin his new job June 21, the school said Monday in announcing his hiring.

Blue spent much of his time overseeing the successful Cardinal football team, including operations and business aspects of appearances at the Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and three Rose Bowls. He was a leader in record-setting ticket sales and generation of revenue.

He is set to be formally introduced on campus Tuesday.
