Glazed conference shows off latest in wearable tech
Wearable technology may be a buzzword, but it's also a rapidly growing sector of the local economy.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Wearable technology may be a buzzword, but it's also a rapidly growing sector of the local economy.

From flying drones controlled with the nod of your head, to sensors that turn your clothes into musical instruments, some of these are pretty crazy ideas, but it turns out crazy isn't really a problem anymore. Most of these companies aren't worried about scaring off investors, because they're starting by going straight to the customers.

Indiegogo and its rival Kickstarter have become the place to launch new gadgets.

"The tech category on Indiegogo has grown 1,000 percent in the last year and that's something we're really proud of," Indiegogo's Kate Drane said.

But society is still catching up on its acceptance of wearable tech, so the industry needs to evolve carefully.

Just ask the guy steering a drone with his head.

"Technology's evolving, but we still have to use our head about it," David Martinez from Brick Simple said.
