Intel investing in young inventor's braille printer prototype

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (KGO) -- ABC7 News first met Santa Clara's Shubham Banerjee last February and learned of his dream of mass producing a braille printer.

The 12-year-old made a prototype almost entirely out of Legos.

Intel loved the idea so much, it's now investing in the project.

The company isn't saying how much, but reports say it could invest several hundred thousand dollars.

Banerjee plans to use the money to build a better prototype. He hopes to sell the printers for $350 apiece, far less than ones now on the market cost.
