ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- Two people died in a three-car crash on Crow Canyon Road in unincorporated Castro Valley.
At 11 p.m. the two cars that collided were still at the scene. The CHP said they were waiting for the coroner to arrive and remove two bodies from the black BMW.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, the CHP said the black BMW tried to pass a car on Crow Canyon Road just north of Norris Canyon Road near Castro Valley. It crossed the double yellow lines in the northbound lane and collided head-on with a pickup truck killing two men in the BMW, the driver and the front passenger.
CHP Officer Daniel Jacowitz told ABC7 News, "The vehicle had to be cut apart by the fire department to try to render life-aid assistance to the driver and the passenger."
A female passenger in the back seat of the BMW is in serious condition and so is the driver of the pickup truck. The car that was being passed received minor damage.
The CHP says fatalities are not uncommon on Crow Canyon Road.
