SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The Golden Gate Bridge will be closed this coming weekend (12:01 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 to 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12) although road closures in the immediate area will begin several hours before.
The Bridge's east sidewalk will remain open during the closure to pedestrians and cyclists from 5 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Both northeast and southeast visitor parking lots will be closed.
Marin County
Southbound US-101, traveling from Marin County toward San Francisco will be closed at the Marin City/Sausalito off ramp. A lane taper will begin just south of the SR-131/East Blithedale and continue to Marin City where all traffic will be forced to exit. People wishing to travel to Sausalito must take Bridgeway into and out of Sausalito as all other on-ramps/off-ramps will be closed south of Marin City.
The southbound US-101 off-ramp to Rodeo Avenue will be closed at approximately 9:00 AM Friday morning as the ramp does not connect to any roadways and is not used. Hikers commonly park on the off ramp to access hiking trails so we want to ensure someone does not park and come back from a hike after the closures have been set up.
San Francisco County
Access to northbound US-101 from San Francisco will be restricted at the Marina Boulevard/Lombard Street intersection. Vehicles traveling on Lombard toward Marina will be forced to turn right onto Marina while vehicles traveling on Marina toward Lombard will be forced to turn left onto Lombard. SR-1 (19th Avenue) will be closed at Lake Street.
Golden Gate Transit
Golden Gate Transit buses will be permitted to cross the Bridge throughout the weekend and will operate weekend schedules. Routes 10, 70, and 101 provide frequent bus service between San Francisco and the North Bay. Routes 10 and 17 and late-night Route 70 trips will not operate through Sausalito this weekend. Instead, customers may ride a free shuttle between downtown Sausalito and Marin City to connect with their desired route. Stops between downtown Sausalito and the Bridge will not be served.
Golden Gate Sausalito Ferry
Golden Gate Sausalito Ferry will operate normal weekend service. Golden Gate Larkspur Ferry will operate added service (between 5:45 a.m. and 1:40 a.m.) on Saturday, Jan. 10 and Sunday, Jan. 11.
The Golden Gate Customer Service Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for trip planning assistance. Call 511 and say "Golden Gate Transit"/TDD 711.
