Lawmakers are set to address corrosion concerns on the new Bay Bridge this week.
The latest issue with the bridge involves several giant steel rods that have been exposed to water and have corrosion, bridge officials say.
The water was discovered during a routine inspection two weeks ago. Caltrans has drained the water but does not know whether the rods have been damaged yet. The problem has been found in almost all the dozen high strength rods that have been inspected.
Lawmakers are scheduled to discuss the issue during Tuesday's meeting of the bridge oversight panel.
