Next weekend's Doyle Drive closure postponed

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A traffic nightmare for drivers planning to use the Golden Gate Bridge next weekend is averted, at least for now.

Doyle Drive is the current roadway to the bridge. It was supposed to close next Thursday, May 28-June 1, so the final stage of the replacement can take place.

Caltrans says the road will not close next weekend because the state fire marshal must first certify the tunnel.

A new closure date will be announced once the testing is finished.
