Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on I-580 in Hayward

HAYWARD, Calif. (KGO) -- The CHP is searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a pedestrian on the freeway in the East Bay.

Authorities say the collision happened just after midnight on eastbound Interstate 580, east of 150th Avenue.

That's on the Hayward-San Leandro border.

Officers say the person was hit in the number two lane, but could not provide specifics as to the car or the deceased.

Eastbound lanes were shut down between 150th and 164th avenues for 2.5 hours. All lanes are now open.
