OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- For some people, it's hard to think about the next storm when they're still cleaning up from the last one.
A 50 foot tree came crashing down in the backyard of a home on Boston Avenue in Oakland Saturday night.
Workers with Terry's Tree Service began cutting up the Black Acacia tree. They say because the ground is so saturated from last week's storm, the waterlogged tree just gave way. It came within inches of the home, and fortunately, no one was in the backyard when the tree came crashing down.
But for the homeowner, it means now having to fork out thousands of dollars to have it removed and the part of the tree that is still standing, is in danger of falling on the property next door.
Not an ideal situation considering she thought she was in the clear.
"I had no flooding, no leakage, no anything. I never in a million years thought this tree was going to fall," said homeowner Deborah Roberto.
On the other side of the bay, residents of Belmont Trailer Park were able to go back to their flood-damaged homes temporarily, just long enough to check out the damage and reclaim some items.
This new storm headed our way is coming at a time when the recovery efforts from last week are far from over.
