Silicon Valley's largest water agency is having second thoughts about a hefty rate hike after customers said, "No way."

Silicon Valley's largest water agency is having second thoughts about a hefty rate hike after customers said, "No way."

The Santa Clara Valley Water District is still proposing a 20 percent increase but it's not as pricey as the 31 percent hike initially proposed.

The increase is set for a final vote in May. It would affect private water companies and cities that sell the water to the public.

East Bay MUD is also sounding the alarm on the California drought, saying the water supply hasn't been this bad since the late 1970s.
