CRANBURY, N.J. -- A major accident on the New Jersey Turnpike involving multiple vehicles in Cranbury has killed at least one person and injured several others.

All lanes are blocked southbound at Molly Pitcher Service Area between Exits 8-8a.

There are more than 15 vehicles involved in the crash including four tractor-trailers, two box trucks, a fully-loaded bus, and multiple cars.

At least one car is on fire north of Exit 8. It's unclear how many people are injured.

Troopers are on the scene actively investigating the crash. All southbound lanes are closed at this time.

A 35 mph speed restriction was enforced for parts of the New Jersey Turnpike due to icy conditions Monday evening. Cranbury, where the crash occurred, was included in the speed restriction.

Police are investigating whether icy roads played a factor in accident.
