In Santa Cruz County, Cal Fire crews are monitoring weather models for lightning activity.
And, the agency has staffed the lookout tower at Copernicus Peak on Mt. Hamilton. Volunteers will survey the mountainous areas from a 360-degree vantage point keeping an eye out for smoke or fire.

If they spot something, they can quickly call it in to the command center.
Meanwhile, people out and about in Willow Glen say the muggy weather is awful. As one man said, "If you lean against a wall, you're going to stick to it."
On the coast in Santa Cruz, people were wowed by a different kind of moisture-a massive and fast moving fog bank.
