Multiple agencies responded to put out those flames which threatened homes.

The fire was reported about 3:11 p.m. near Rancho La Boca and Rancho Del Lago roads in the Martinez area, Cal Fire Assistant Chief Steven Blythe said. Firefighters requested a second alarm at 3:27 p.m.
Four air tankers and two helicopters were involved in halting the progress of the blaze, which was fought by crews from Cal Fire and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, he said.

ABC7's Tara Campbell spoke with one woman whose white jeep was doused in pink retardant as she escaped with her daughter and four dogs.
"It was really the tough. The fire was around the house literally like 400 feet and by that time I took all the dogs and everything and I couldn't see anything towards the gate," said Wendy Schreiner.

"It was very difficult terrain this is a rural area in the Martinez hills and just getting to this area is difficult," she said.
The fire is contained.
No one was hurt and no homes were destroyed.
The battalion chief suggests mowing in the morning when it's cool because warm grass in the afternoon is more likely to start a fire.
