The call first came into CHP around 2:30 p.m. regarding a collision on Interstate Highway 680 south near the Sunol Boulevard offramp.
According to CHP, a Honda Pilot went off the roadway and into a ditch, possibly hitting a tree. Alameda County Fire said the minivan went about 20 feet down the embankment. The minivan contained six adults and two children.

Two adults were killed, two more were taken to the hospital, and two more adults and two children had minor injuries, according to Alameda County Fire.
The Alameda County Coroner's office confirms that one of the injured people died, bringing the death count to three.
CHP is currently investigating the scene and will have more information as it becomes available, but as of 6:15 p.m., drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. A spokesperson for the Dublin CHP office said that the rain could have played a factor, but that at the time of the crash the rain was not that heavy.
Alameda County Fire said a helicopter had been called off due to the weather, however.
