OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland police are investigating a triple shooting that left one man dead overnight on the streets of downtown.

Nenna Joiner came by to check out the scene before opening up her store, Feelmore Adult, located around the block.

"This is kind of normal down here, unfortunately. And I wanted to come down and make sure that I saw what was going on before my team came in. Because, you know, all this, frankly, puts a damper on employees feeling safe," says Joiner.

Oakland police say the shooting happened just before 1:30 a.m. on 19th Street, between Broadway and Telegraph.

The identity of the man hasn't been released. The two women who were shot are both in stable condition in the hospital. One woman is from San Leandro, the other a resident of Tracy.

"It is the chaos that is happening. And, what was happening downtown for three people to get shot (overnight), when no businesses are open? It is just disheartening to see. I could have known these people," says Joiner.

The scene was littered with bullets and bullet holes in storefronts.

Joiner says she wants more policing in the area, but says it will take more than that to tackle the level of violence she sees on the streets. And she adds, it's not just about gun violence.

"There is a violence situation happening in Oakland. Traffic violence to gun violence, to shop lifting to property violence. There is a lot of violence. And you can't just say it what can happen? It is under-policing? Over-policing? It's just everybody being aware," explains Joiner.

The cause of the shooting is still under investigation.
