All WB I-580 lanes reopen in Oakland after crash, possible shooting investigation, CHP says

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The westbound lanes of Interstate 580 in Oakland are open early Thursday evening after a collision and possible shooting hours before prompted an investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the subsequent closure of the freeway.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for westbound Interstate 580, east of Keller Avenue, due to the incident.

The collision was reported at 2:17 p.m.

A sigalert was issued around 2:45 p.m. initially blocking two lanes.



Then, all lanes were temporarily blocked for a brief time, the CHP said.

SKY7 flew over the scene and spotted a white vehicle following the accident.

No word if there are any injuries or fatalities at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation, a CHP spokesperson said.
