Desi Romero died at the scene, according to his family. Authorities said six other people who were wounded by gunfire at the same party have since been released from the hospital.
"It's been hard on us. To me, I thought he was a nice kid, a nice kid," said Desiderio Romero II, Desi's great-grandfather.
Romero II said the loss has been devastating for the family.
"I'm gonna miss him because he was a good grandson to my son," he said.

Morgan Hill City Councilmember Yvonne Martinez Beltran called the shooting a tragedy and said she is familiar with similar gatherings that have been held in rural areas over the years. However, she believes social media has increased the reach of such events.
"Really just sad, it's sad, a sad situation all around," Martinez Beltran said.
According to social media posts, a San Jose-based influencer organized Saturday's party to celebrate a birthday. Sheriff's investigators have described the event as an unsanctioned party.
"I know that this has happened in other communities as well, and so you know, we're not the first, and we'll have to look and see if there's anything that we can do," Martinez Beltran said.

Family members remembered Desi as a talented football and baseball player when he was younger. Romero II said the family had been working with him to help identify a career path.
"He kind of liked carpentry and mechanical, so my son was trying to get him into that. Get him his high school diploma and send him to go get a trade, do something for himself," Romero II said.
Sadly, those plans will never come to fruition. Meanwhile, the sheriff's office said the investigation remains active.
"Detectives remain focused on tracking down information and apprehending the person or persons responsible for the shooting," the sheriff's office said.
