Derreyl Chase Goode, 40, was charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in April 2008. He also faces an allegation that he used a firearm in the commission of the murder, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

According to court documents, on April 27, 2008, San Francisco officers responded to 520 Fulton St. regarding a shooting. They found a victim lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the face.

Witnesses alleged Goode was seen standing over the victim as the victim's body hit the ground. The victim was later identified by the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office as 28-year-old Jason Mosley.

The 28-year-old was shot and killed one day before he was set to marry his pregnant fiancée.

Mosley's family thinks it was a case of mistaken identity. His case went cold until recently, after investigators in the San Francisco Police Department's Cold Case Unit took over.

Nearly 20 years after the homicide, police identified Goode as the suspect, who was discovered to be living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Investigators developed probable cause to obtain a warrant for his arrest.

"After a substantial investigation by SFPD, Mr. Goode was arrested," the department said.

He was arrested Monday, Aug. 17 in Los Angeles after SFPD investigators coordinated with the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force to help locate him. The task force partners with local law enforcement to help detain fugitives.

The suspect was taken to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, where SFPD investigators met with him. He was booked on his outstanding arrest warrant for homicide.

Goode was expected to be arraigned Thursday morning.

Although police have made an arrest in this case, the investigation is still open. Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
