The Fairfax teen had requested the option of rehabilitation, but the judge denied the motion after hearing statements from relatives and friends of the victims.

The girl was driving five other teens to a sleepover in an SUV when they crashed into a tree in Woodacre in April 2025. Four of the teenagers were killed in the crash.
She and one passenger survived.
The driver was charged in October 2025 with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.
She is also facing two infractions, for driving at a speed unsafe for prevailing conditions and driving with a provisional license with passengers under 20 years old, without a licensed parent or guardian.

The ruling marks a significant development in the case as criminal proceedings against the teen driver continue.
In December 2025, family members of three of the victims stood by her, saying they did not want her to be prosecuted. But in several recent hearings, the Bay Area News Group reports that family members have been divided on how the case should move forward.
