SF's North Beach shooting was a botched armed robbery, police say

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police say Sunday night's shooting in North Beach that killed one person and wounded four others was a botched robbery.

San Francisco police also say the 23-year-old Solano County man who was shot and killed has been identified as Isaiah Thomas from Suisun City.

Police say Thomas was part of a group that tried robbing two people near Broadway and Columbus Avenue.

Things turned violent and Thomas was shot to death.



The man arrested is Malachi Lefiti, a 22-year-old man from Oakland, who was among the five shot, SFPD said.

Two robbery targets and another robbery suspect were also shot - as well as a woman who was with the suspects.

Lefiti, the injured suspect faces charges including murder.

While an arrest has been made, the SFPD is asking anyone with information to contact them at 415-575-4444.
