A home security camera captured the moment a house on 22nd Avenue exploded and burned to the ground Thursday morning. The blast was strong enough to force open car doors.

Albert Ng and his neighbor were standing across the street and they were nearly knocked down.

"It was like a bomb and then the house caught fire in the garage," Ng said.

"My neighbor and I were showered with glass. I kept looking at myself, I'm not injured or cut," said one neighbor who did not want to give her name.

Police say a woman inside the house was killed. A caregiver made it out alive but suffered major injuries.

"There was a woman as soon as the explosion happened, I could hear this person screaming. I couldn't see her," the neighbor said.

A partial police report obtained by ABC7 News anchor Dion Lim on Friday says a couple lived in the house along with their two children, who were at school at the time of the explosion.

The woman was disabled and was often assisted by a caretaker, who was in the basement doing laundry when the explosion happened.

Police say a narcotics lab was being operated inside the home.

The suspect, 53-year-old Darron Price, was arrested on Friday.

He was booked for involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment and manufacturing drugs.

Two children who lived in the house were at school at the time of the blast. It's not known where Price was at the time of the incident or where the children are now.

"Quiet neighborhood. People are nice, and in the middle of the street, you have this guy who is doing something illegally," said Karen Lei.

Lei's home is red tagged. She lives next door to the house which exploded.
On the other side, a yellow house is also condemned. It's where a preschool teacher and her family lived.

Parents are showing their support with a GoFundMe account.

"There's a fundraiser for her. Her name is teacher Nang. She's an amazing teacher. Everybody's safe but imagine if that was your home, your possessions gone or destroyed," said parent Michael Pollack.

Multiple other homes suffered damage in the explosion, including broken windows and doors. Those repairs will take time and money.

District Supervisor Joel Engardio plans to hold a Townhall meeting on Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. for neighbors impacted by the explosion and fire. Engardio says city departments will be there offering information and resources to help neighbors move forward.
