There's no word yet on the officer's condition.
It happened near the Ferry Building in San Francisco. A police car was smashed in, along with couple of SUVs.
San Francisco police say the suspects were trying to steal a catalytic converter when police tried to stop them. The suspects took off in their car, hitting at least one officer as they tried to get away.
SFPD Sgt. Montgomery Singleton said, "Right here in Front of the Ferry Building is the termination point. The suspect vehicle struck an 18-wheeler truck, where it received most of its damage, and it continued to head into two other smaller SUVs, which resulted in also some minor injuries of those drivers of those vehicles."
Miguel Carranza says he was hit during all of these, and saw two people take off running. "I was here at the stop light waiting for the light to change and I heard noise behind me and before I could look through my rear view mirror, I got jerked, I got hit from behind, rear-ended."
