Intersection at 3rd and Mission streets closed in SF due to PG&E vault fire, utility says

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Streets are closed until further notice at the intersection of Third and Mission streets in San Francisco due to a PG&E vault fire.

San Francisco firefighters responded to calls of heavy smoke in the area just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

When they arrived they determined it was an underground electrical equipment fire.

PG&E utility crews are currently investigating what may have caused the fire to ignite.

Fire officials tell people to seek alternate routes.
