A group of veterans are off to Washington D.C., in an Honor Flight unlike any other.

This Honor Flight is made up at least 72 women from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

They got together Tuesday for a special send-off gathering where they received their pink Honor Flight t-shirts. "It's time the women are being recognized. It's unbelievable how many women have been in the service over the years that we're not aware of at all," June Whitney said.

Veterans from World War II to Iraq and Afghanistan are making the trip all expenses paid.

They will tour all the war memorials in the Washington D.C. area, including the women's memorial at the Arlington National Cemetery.
