ANAHEIM, Calif. -- From newly announced movies to rides and lands under construction at Disney parks around the world, we brought you all the live updates from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
This gathering of official Disney fan club members took place Friday through Sunday, ending with the Disney Legends Award Ceremony at the Honda Center.
A new show for the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland featuring an audio animatronic of Walt Disney was announced at D23 in Anaheim, Calif. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.
The new show for the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland will be called "Walt Disney: A Magical Life."
"We had to wait for innovation to catch up with our dreams," Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro said. "And now we're finally ready. Walt's nephew visited imagineering campus and was very moved by the project."
As Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro explained, a brand-new attraction themed around Simba and the rest of the animal kingdom will soon join the expanding roster of experiences at the resort.
Disneyland Paris' second park, which is being re-named Disney Adventure World, has already seen a handful of recent exciting updates including the opening of Avengers Campus and Worlds of Pixar, and will continue with the opening of World of Frozen in 2026.
"Disney Starlight" will continue the nighttime spectacular legacy started by the "Main Street Electrical Parade" using the latest technology to tell new stories about the characters you love. All of this is brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy, in addition to beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios films "Peter Pan," "Encanto," "Frozen," and more.
A new "Coco" attraction in Disney's California Adventure is announced at D23 in Anaheim, Calif. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.
Ideas for this all-new attraction came from classics like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, said Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro.
It will feature the latest in audio animatronic technology and breaks ground in 2026.
