Major storms soaked Northern California this Christmas week, causing flooding in parts with intense rain and wind.
The storm is winding down, and power is coming back on for most Bay Area residents.

1 dead in Redding as atmospheric river causes major flooding, police say
At least one person has died in Redding because of flooding in the city as the water just overtook the streets.

Police are warning people to avoid driving and stay home.
Part of I-5 also flooded, creating a traffic jam in both directions.
Some people got trapped in the high water and had to be rescued.
The CHP closed several lanes of traffic to clear the vehicles and other hazards.

People rescued from flooding and high waters in Humboldt County
The storm is swamping parts of Humboldt County, resulting in numerous rescues.

The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office shared pictures of rescues from the Freshwater area, near Arcata.
Apparently they saved more than just people from the high water; they also found some goats that were stranded on someone's doorstep.
