VALLEJO, Calif. -- Police are investigating a Sunday officer-involved shooting in Vallejo.

Officers with the Vallejo Police Department responded to several 911 calls from residents in the area of the 100 and 200 blocks of Mark Street.

Residents reported seeing a man walking in the street while holding a gun in his right hand, police said.

The callers told police the man appeared angry as he glared into passing vehicles.

Officers responded to Mark Street and located the man, who tried to escape by running up the driveway of a residence, police said.

Police said as officers pursued the man, he turned around, faced one of the officers and raised the gun. The officer shot him.

Police said officers administered life-saving measures on the man until paramedics arrived at the scene and transported him to a local hospital.

Police did not release the man's name or his condition.

Police did say the man is known to local law enforcement and has an extensive criminal history, including previous gun-related charges.

Police also responded earlier Sunday to a shooting in the 100 block of Mark Street.

In that incident, which occurred just after 4:30 p.m., police said a victim was shot in the leg.

Police said the victim was uncooperative with investigators and was transported to the hospital.
