NEW YORK (KGO) -- A man who is being touted as a possible No. 1 pick in Thursday's NFL draft has kept a promise made to his mother over a decade ago.

When former University of Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was in third grade he recalls telling his mom, Rose Murphy, "When I make it to the NFL, I'm going to buy you a pink Cadillac Escalade with pink rims."

And now, not only is Bridgewater is poised to make it to the NFL, but he's also keeping that promise made many years ago.

Bridgewater took Murphy to an early birthday luncheon in New York, where the NFL draftee presented his mom with the shiny pink Escalade, provided by Cadillac.

"It was just amazing. I was in awe. I was like, 'Oh my God,'" Murphy said on "Good Morning America." "It was a long time coming and just to see it, I was in awe."

Murphy raised her son while battling and eventually beating breast cancer. So the car's pink color has significant meaning for both her and Bridgewater.
