SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There are a lot of last-minute shoppers out there on the last Saturday before Christmas.
For the first time ever, this day is expected to surpass Black Friday as the busiest shopping day of the season.
Analytics firm ShopperTrak reports more than 14 percent of Americans will buy their final gift today.
Retailers will see $10 billion dollars in sales.
The parking lot at Serramonte Center in Daly City was crowded since they opened early Saturday morning. It's clear shoppers across the Bay Area are cramming most of their last minute shopping into the last Saturday before Christmas.
Inside Serramonte Center, the gift wrappers were busy with shoppers.
Plenty of people told us they did much of their shopping online, but there were a few items they could only get at the mall.
One of those must have presents this year are the new Air Jordans. One woman told us she spent an hour in line to buy them.
The other reason why some last minute shoppers are flocking to malls across the Bay Area is because there are still plenty of deals to find. And it may be too late to find them online and get them shipped on time.
Some shoppers were surprised to see so many people here, but they were ready for the last minute rush.
"It was rough. The parking lot was full, it took a long time to park. A lot of physical stuff going on in the stores, you know I'm an ice hockey player. I play at Belmont Iceland so I know how to protect my space," said Tom Orsi.
Economists are estimating that today will be a busier shopping day than Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
