Famous woman to appear on $10 bill

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A piece of U.S. currency is getting a face lift. The Treasury Department has announced Alexander Hamilton will have to make room for a woman on the $10 bill.

The big question is which woman will it be?

The idea for the new $10 comes from U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew.

It will be the first time in more than 100 years that a woman will appear on paper U.S. currency.

In the late 1800s Martha Washington appeared on the $1 silver certificate and Pocahontas was in a group photo on a $20 bill.
