At least 2 in custody after SWAT activity on eastbound I-580 in San Leandro causes massive backup

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- There was a major traffic impact in the East Bay on I-580 Thursday due to police activity involving SWAT vehicles.

The activity was happening in the eastbound direction past 150th Avenue near the Sanhill Road on-ramp. The freeway was shut down, but most of the lanes opened back up around 1:15 p.m.

At least two people were taken into custody.

It's unclear what happened, but traffic was backed up for miles.
