CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New video released shows a close call on the ground at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, where an American Airlines pilot was forced to abruptly stop while taxiing after a vehicle drove in front of the aircraft.
The incident happened Wednesday morning and was captured on video, which shows the aircraft braking suddenly to avoid a collision.
According to air traffic control audio from the moment, the pilot can be heard reacting to the situation, saying, "That was really bad."
Airport officials confirmed the incident and said it is now under investigation. No injuries were reported, and airport operations were not significantly disrupted.
Officials have not yet said what type of vehicle crossed in front of the plane or how it entered the taxiway. The investigation will review video footage, radio communications, and airport procedures to determine how the close call occurred and whether any safety protocols were violated.
Airport leaders emphasized that safety remains their top priority and said additional information will be released once the investigation is complete.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is one of the nation's busiest hubs, serving as a major base of operations for American Airlines.
