Talking humanoid robot 'Ameca' will make an appearance at San Mateo Co. Fair this weekend

SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- Friday marks the first day of the San Mateo County Fair, which opens with eating contests, carnival rides and concerts.

Gym Class Heroes will take the stage Saturday at the fair. Jay Sean is also set to perform next Friday, June 12.

Eating contests will feature ice cream, funnel cakes, barbecue pizza, watermelon, and corn dogs.

New this year, a talking humanoid robot named "Ameca" will visit.

"I analyzed the fair by calculating ride physics, funnel cake sugar density, and the structural integrity of giant stuffed animals," Ameca can be heard saying in a video.

Ameca will only make an appearance on Saturday.

The San Mateo County Fair runs today through Sunday, and then Wednesday through next Sunday.
