Avalanche kills man on ski patrol at Squaw Valley

OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. (KGO) -- A ski patroller was killed in an avalanche at Squaw Valley Tuesday morning, the resort confirmed.

"A fatal incident occurred at Squaw Valley involving a ski patroller at 8:35 AM this (January 24, 2017) morning during avalanche control activities. He was an employee of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. An investigation is underway, and additional updates will be provided as they become available."

The man's name has not been released yet.
