AccuWeather Forecast: Clouds expand tonight, lingers until morning

Takeaway of the Day
Morning fog, low clouds, and spotty drizzle lingered until midday for much of the Bay Area, but skies turned sunny over the bay and inland by early afternoon. Despite the afternoon sunshine, high temperatures were generally about 10 degrees below average for early July: about 60 degrees at the coast, upper 60s to near 70 around the bay, and upper 70s to lower 80s inland. The marine layer will deepen and expand again tonight, pushing across the bay and locally inland -- where it will linger until mid-morning tomorrow.

A Look Ahead
Tomorrow will be much like today, with lingering low clouds and fog until midday, with temperatures again around 10 degrees below average. A warmer and more summerlike pattern will begin midweek and continue through next weekend. At the peak of warming, high temperatures will reach into the mid-60s at the coast, 80 degrees near the bay, and lower 90s inland. As our weather turns warmer later this week, we should be cautions along the coastline, as the surf may be dangerously rough. A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT will be in effect from early this evening to 5 p.m. Friday. During that time, there is the risk of dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves.
